Create a RSS Feed-More Free Traffic to Your Static Web Pages

Part1

Most sites on the web were built before the invasion of the wordpress blogging platform was in general use. Using a html editor created functional and beautiful sites. However they do not provide for the ease of traffic generation that a wordpress blogging platform provides. The wordpress platform allows for more social traffic in many ways. Three of which are:

1) The use of automatic pinging when new posts are made to the blog.

2) Provides a continuously updated rss feed for visitors to add to their favorite feed readers such as Google, Yahoo and Bloglines, inviting returning visitor traffic.

3) Automatic updating of the rss (really simple syndication) feeds that can be submitted to rss feed directories.

Meanwhile, sites created with html editors, static page sites or adsense template sites, have become the poor cousin to the blogging sites when it comes to traffic generation.

It is not that these sites can not achieve the traffic generating results of the wordpress blogging platform. They can, but it will require more knowledge and more work to achieve the same result. For example, how do you acquire rss traffic when a static or adsense template site cannot generate a rss feed automatically? Simple answer, create a rss feed manually.

It may sound like a daunting task, at first, but keep reading. Its as simple as basic html, with the use of open and close tags.

Basic html code:

INSERT TITLE HERE

INSERT BODY CONTENT HERE

Go to any blog, click on the rss icon and take a look at the rss feed structure. It should look like this:

-

INSERT RSS FEED TITLE HERE

INSERT RSS FEED DESCRIPTION HERE

-

INSERT ITEM TITLE HERE

>

INSERT ITEM DESCRIPTION HERE

If you would prefer a little automation then Internet.com has a great free tool, just search for ‘channel editor” on their site or go to: www.webreference.com/cgi-bin/perl/rssedit.pl. This tool will generate the output you need.

Creating a rss feed is simple and easy once you understand the structure. Now you can see the potential for your static and adsense template websites. Copy the above code either what I provided (above) or what you automatically generated into notepad and save as whatever name you would like for your feed page name. Upload this text file to your site folder and rename the .txt extension to .rss.

That is all. You now have a rss feed for your static site. In part 2 of this article, you will learn what comes next and what you need to do with the rss feed you just created to drive more traffic to your static web pages and adsense template sites using rss feeds.

The Power Of Leverage

The Power of Leverage

Many people have found the Internet to be a great way to make a lot of money. They have discovered the power of leverage. Internet marketing allows you to reach a global audience. However, many more people have found Internet marketing to be a frustrating experience. They know that riches are there to be found, but they struggle to make even a modest income. In fact quite a number actually make a loss each month. The sales they make don’t compensate for the amount they spend on buying the latest e-books, purchasing private label rights or paying monthly membership fees.

Big Mistakes

One of the biggest mistakes is to think that you will get rich quickly from one technique, or one product. This can happen, but it is the exception rather than the rule. Having a goal of reaching $100,000 or more a year is a reasonable goal. However, having a goal of reaching $100,000 in one step is not as reasonable. Fortunately, there is another way to use the power of leverage. A large income does not have to come from one source. Indeed, it is probably a lot easier to generate using multiple sources of smaller amounts.

Goals: Setting And Achieving Them On Schedule

An example

For example, there are many ways to generate $5 a day on the Internet. This may not seem very significant, but over the course of the year this would generate $1825. Again, this may not seem very exciting. However, if you were to put in place 100 similar sources you would now be earning $500 a day. This equates to a yearly income of $182,500.

Focus and Consistency

Of course, this strategy could lead to another common mistake. Many new (and not so new), Internet marketers lack focus and consistency. They follow a range of gurus and experiment with a wide variety of techniques in the search for the one elusive method that might allow them to quit their day job. Unfortunately, if you work on 10 different jobs at the same time, it can lead to them receiving only 10% of the effort each. An alternative is to work on one job at the time with 100% effort and bringing it to completion quickly. Think of the reward, if you were able to implement one new $5 a day strategy each week. At the end of your first year, you would have around 50 sources generating an annual income of $91,250.

“Eat an Elephant” Method

You may be lucky enough to generate that one great idea, like a ‘Rubik’s Cube’, that leads to a fortune. However, a viable alternative is to work on small achievable steps that can eventually lead to a big income. Use the “eat an elephant” method of taking consistent small-sized bites to complete a large task:)

Pinging - Build One Way Links

26 May, 2008 (15:41) | Traffic | By: admin

What is pinging?

Pinging is a way of letting search engines know that you’ve created a new post, or updated an existing post on your blog. A ‘ping’ is a message sent to a ‘ping server’ notifying it that the blog has been updated with new content.

What is a ping server?

A ping server is a web-based service that accepts messages in the XML-RPC format. It uses the information in these XML-RPC messages to publish a list of blogs which have updated content. Some of these ping servers run their own blog search engines, and some propagate the information to a number of other ping servers and search engines.

How does pinging work?

Many blog publishing platforms, such as Wordpress, have a built-in pinging tool. In the case of Wordpress, pinging is turned on by default and pings go out to one ping server which updates several search engines.

You can also notify a ping server that you have updated content manually by going to their website and submitting your blog’s name and URL.

One popular ping server is PingOMatic, found at http://pingomatic.com/. When your blog pings PingOMatic it then notifies a number of search engines that your blog has been updated. Many of these search engines also have their own ping server as well.

These search engines can then update their listings with new content almost instantly. This of course will give you one-way backlinks to your blog from these search engines, many of which have a high Google PageRank.

4 things you should know about pinging

1. Only ping when you have updated content. Otherwise, your site might be blacklisted as a spam blog, also known as a splog.

2. If you tend to post to your blog and then re-write the post frequently you might want to make sure you only ping when you actually post new content, not on updates. If you are using Wordpress there are a few plugins that make sure that pings are only sent when a post is created.

3. It’s a good idea to ping several ping services, especially the ones that notify several search engines. Don’t overdo it though. Make sure that if you are pinging a niche search engine that your blog falls into the relevant niche.

4. Make sure that if a search engine is notified by a ping server you are already using that you don’t add that search engines own ping service to your list of servers to ping. Because blog spammers have abused ping servers if you are pinging a search engine multiple times your site might end up being blacklisted, and not appear in the search engines at all.
